Unable to grant role to user

I hope this helps . I've created a role called CATDX_OWNER_RPT_RL and granted SELECT privileges on all tables within the schema. I've created a new user and granted both CONNECT, CREATE SESSION. Now I would like to assign the role I created to the new user with the following syntax - GRANT ROLE CATDX_OWNER_RPT_RL TO USER. It returns this error SQL Error: ORA-00990: missing or invalid privilege 00990. 00000 - "missing or invalid privilege" , Reinventing the wheel? Omit ROLE.
code :
GRANT CATDX_OWNER_RPT_RL TO NEW_USER;

it fixes the issue After creating roles and granting privileges to them, I want to grant the privileges of a specified role to a user, how to do with it? I tried grant to , but failed.
code :
EXEC sp_addrolemember 'db_owner', 'JohnJacobs'

In Firebird database how do I grant a role to a user with the grant option?

I wish this help you The GRANT clause with grant option is only for privileges, not for roles. For roles you need to use with admin option.
code :
GRANT <role_granted>
TO <role_grantee_list> [WITH ADMIN OPTION]
[{GRANTED BY | AS} [USER] grantor]

Grant privilege to role with admin option Vs Grant role to user with admin option?

I wish this helpful for you CASE1:
grant ROLE1 to USER1 with admin option; means you can grant ROLE1 to other users, regardless what have been granted to ROLE1. Thus grant select any table to USER2; does not work.

around this issue After creating roles and granting privileges to them, I want to grant the privileges of a specified role to a user with grant option so that the user can grant privileges to others, how to do with it? , The stored procedure sp_addrolemember has 2(two) parameters only:
code :
sp_addrolemember [ @rolename = ] 'role', [ @membername = ] 'security_account'
  grant select on myTbl to AnotherUser as MyRole

Hope this helps Don't invent your own syntax. Remove both TABLE and ROLE from the GRANT statement.
code :
GRANT SELECT ON CATDX_OWNER.TBLAUTOSAVEDATA TO CATDX_OWNER_RPT_RL;
