will help you You could use max with a key to order based on the last element cast to int, and take the first element:
code :
max(array, key=lambda x: int(x[2]))[0]
# 'B'

How to return a specific element of an array?

Does that help I want to return odd numbers of an array yet Eclipse doesn't seem to accept my return array[i]; code. I think it requires returning a whole array since I set an array as a parameter to my method. As I said before, I need to pass an array and get a specific element of that array in return. Even if I make that array static, how do I return a single element? , You code should look like this:
code :
public int getElement(int[] arrayOfInts, int index) {
    return arrayOfInts[index];

C++ finding the (largest) index of the largest element in an array

I wish this helpful for you I have an array of values and a technique for finding the index of the largest element in an array. , In a for loop add an if statement. Something like...
code :
int indexToReturn = 0;
int indexValue = 0;
int newValue = 0;
for (int i = 0; i < arrayCount; i++) {
    newValue = arrayOfValues[i];
    if (newValue >= indexValue) {
        indexToReturn = i;
        indexValue = newValue;
// At the end of this loop the value you want is indexToReturn

How to return index and value of the specific element from array on callback using any JavaScript array function?

With these it helps I tried with filter() function but I'm not sure about returning index and value using that. here's sample code that I tried. , Use findIndex instead
code :
var names = ['A', 'B', 'C', 'D', 'E', 'F', 'G'];
var valToFind = "G";
const valIndex = names.findIndex( s => s === valToFind );
const valIndex = names.indexOf( valToFind );
var output = { name : valToFind, index : names.indexOf( valToFind ) };

C program to output the largest element of array with the index of the largest element of array

wish help you to fix your issue Your approach to find the max element in an array is fine. But it alters the original array. If it okay with you, then go ahead with it, else if you would like to keep the array in tact as well as find the max element with the index, then check the code which I have attached below. If you intend to keep the methodology same, then just add a variable, which you should update as and when you find a higher number, as follows:
code :
int max_index;       //declare before
if (arr[0] < arr[i]) {
     max_index  = i;
     arr[0] = arr[i];
int main()
int i, max_index;
float arr[5], max;

printf("Please enter five numbers:\n ");

for (i = 0; i < 5; ++i)

    scanf("%f", &arr[i]);
max = arr[0];//start off assuming that the 1st element is the max
for (i = 0; i < 5; i++)//now compare it with the rest of the array, updataing the max all along
    if (arr[i] > max) {
        max = arr[i];
        max_index = i;
printf("Largest element = %.2f at index %d", max, max_index);

return 0;

How to find the largest, 2nd, 4th, 8th...2^logn th largest element in an array, use O(n) algorithm

I wish this helpful for you Since this looks like a homework question, I won't give a full answer. However, here are a few helpful hints:
Do you know how to find the kth largest element in an array in time O(n)? If not, you probably need to look this up before you're going to make any progress. 1 + 2 + 4 + 8 + ... + 2log n = 2n - 1, which is O(n). Use the algorithm from part (1) on intelligently-chosen arrays. The summation from (2) will help you prove that you have the runtime bound you need.
