Can you assign ggplot2 aestetics by calling characters in a vector?

I hope this helps you . I think you need to pass 22.4 in the argument labels in the scale_colour_manual to define the label of your legend:
code :
ggplot() +
  geom_point(data = isotherms[[1]], aes(x = BHQ1, y = Em, color = "purple"), size = 2)+
  scale_colour_manual(name = "Temp. (\u00b0C)", values = "purple", labels = "22.4") +

Is it better to call vector::reserve() before calling vector::assign()?

it should still fix some issue In case when v1 is std::vector you don't really need it, as the compiler/stl knows how many items are going to be there in v2 (and will reserve the needed amount itself before copying the actual data).
For the generic case, however, it may make sense to reserve the needed amount in advance, if the input container (v1) doesn't know how many items are there, and you have the number at hand.

How to retrieve sqlite with select statement and assign to vector then assign to a string

it should still fix some issue You are already pushing strings into your vector of vectors. Since you have organized your vectors as each row representing the same column value, if you want the strings for record r, you would do:
code :
std::string username = result[0][r];
std::string password = result[3][r];

ggplot: geom_polygon - Error in length of Aestetics

I think the issue was by ths following , You can try this to make it work, I replaced the data argument in order to make it work properly
code :
ggplot() +
  geom_point(data = perWorkField, mapping = aes(x = percent, y = module)) + xlim(c(0, 100)) +
  geom_polygon(aes(x = c(0, 30, 30, 0), y = c(0.5, 0.5, 5.5, 5.5)),
               color = NA) +
  geom_polygon(aes(x = c(30, 75, 75, 30), y = c(0.5, 0.5, 5.5, 5.5)),
               color = NA) +
  geom_polygon(aes(x = c(75, 100, 100, 75), y = c(0.5, 0.5, 5.5, 5.5)),
               color = NA) +
  geom_point(data = perWorkField, mapping = aes(x = percent, y = module), shape = 20, size = 5) + theme_classic()

R, str_replace, gsub, how to replace a vector of characters for another vector of characters?

hop of those help? An option would be to paste the individual characters as a pattern string wrapped by square brackets to evaluate it literally (in case there are meta characters) and then replace with blank ("") in gsub
code :
pat <- paste0("[^", gsub("\\s{2,}", " ", paste(permitted_seq_chars, collapse="")), "]")
gsub(pat, "", test_col$sequence)
#[1] "ATGCRYSW"         "ATGCRYSW"         "ATGCRYSW"
