Should I use AWS SAM for "simple" Lambda functions?

With these it helps AWS SAM is perfect for that use case! If you compare it to CloudFormation it allows you to write Lambda functions and their triggers in a much more compact way. I'm not sure what you consider complicated, but just have a look at the following example. This is a single AWS SAM template, which defines two AWS Lambda functions, one triggered by S3 events the other one with a scheduled execution every five minutes:
code :
AWSTemplateFormatVersion: '2010-09-09'
Transform: AWS::Serverless-2016-10-31
Globals:
  Function:
    Runtime: python3.8
Resources:
  Bucket:
    Type: AWS::S3::Bucket
  ProcessorFunction:
    Type: AWS::Serverless::Function
    Properties:
      Handler: s3_processor.handler
      CodeUri: src/
      Policies: AmazonS3ReadOnlyAccess
      Events:
        PhotoUpload:
          Type: S3
          Properties:
            Bucket: !Ref Bucket
            Events: s3:ObjectCreated:*
  ScheduledFunction:
    Type: AWS::Serverless::Function
    Properties:
      Handler: scheduled_function.handler
      CodeUri: src/
      Events:
        Timer:
          Type: Schedule
          Properties:
            Schedule: rate(5 minutes)

Defining multiple local functions with "let over lambda" form in Scheme

this will help First of all, you don't need to introduce a new procedure calc-cbrt - you could just call calc-iter instead.
Second, the meaning of define and let are quite different. Define installs the definitions into the local scope, as in your example. However, let expressions are just syntactic sugar for lambda expressions (see SICP section 1.3 for details). As a result (and as you mention), variables declared via (let ( ...) ) are only visible inside . So, your pattern of (let ) (let ) ... doesn't work, since none of the definitions will "survive" to be seen in other scopes.
code :
(define (cbrt x)
   (let ((good-enough? (lambda ...))
         (improve (lambda ...))
         (cbrt-iter (lambda ...)))
     (cbrt-iter 1.0 0.0)))
(define (cbrt x)
   (let ((good-enough? (lambda ...))
         (improve (lambda ...)))
     (let ((cbrt-iter (lambda ...)))
       (cbrt-iter 1.0 0.0))))
(define (cbrt x)
   (let ((good-enough? (lambda ...))
         (improve (lambda ...)))
     (letrec ((cbrt-iter (lambda ...)))
       (cbrt-iter 1.0 0.0))))

Understanding "lambda expressions" in Java in the context of "lambda" and "anonymous classes&qu

Hope this helps For question 1, yes you can define it like that for everyday purposes. But under the hood, lambda expressions are syntactic sugar for good old methods. See this link. The body of the lambda is converted to a static method, and there is an invokedynamic instruction.
For question 2, "lambda" in this context is just short for "lambda expression", as far as I'm concerned. You wouldn't want such a long word in conversational speech, right? In other contexts, well, "lambda" can refer to the Greek letter λ.

Setting up AWS Lambda with Go, why do I always get "Internal server error" with this simple function?

With these it helps One of the most common reasons to get Internal server error is that your Lambda function is either crashing or not returning what is expected by the triggering service.
In this case I suspect a bit of both.

What are the pros and cons of having one lambda function with "smaller functions" vs multiple functions

it helps some times imo do whatever you feel comfortable with and that works best for the use case. Here is just my 2 cents on the subject though:
Pros:

will help you There is no standard definition for that this generated class name is. This is deliberate to avoid you writing code which depends on it making it harder for the designers to change it later.
That being said, what little you can read is;
