Using a variable to call a nested workflow

Using a variable to call a nested workflow

I think the issue was by ths following , The Workflow Action requires the resource id of the workflow as a string and doesn't accept variables.
Instead, you can achieve calling workflows dynamically as follow
code :

To fix the issue you can do The issue as to why I couldn't take the output variable of my custom action into the list was because of an incorrect DesignerType value in the .actions file.
Here is the old code:
code :
<FieldBind Field="Result" DesignerType="TextArea" Text="Action result message; returns OK on success" Id="3" />
<FieldBind Field="Result" DesignerType="ParameterNames" Text="Action result message; returns OK on success" Id="3" />

hope this fix your issue Apache Camel is an open source integration framework which will help you in this.
You can use Apache Camel to build your own simple workflow manager, where each process implements Processor. Your data can passed through processors using camel Exchange. Check out camel examples for more information.
code :
import org.apache.camel.builder.RouteBuilder;
import org.apache.camel.impl.DefaultCamelContext;

public class WorkflowManager {

    DefaultCamelContext camelContext;

    public WorkflowManager() {
        camelContext = new DefaultCamelContext();
        RouteBuilder routeBuilder = new RouteBuilder() {

            @Override
            public void configure() throws Exception {
                from("timer:schedule?period=1s&daemon=true").process(new ProcessOne()).process(new ProcessTwo());
            }
        };
        try {
            camelContext.addRoutes(routeBuilder);
        } catch (Exception e) {
            e.printStackTrace();
        }
    }

    public void start() throws Exception {
        camelContext.start();
    }

    public void stop() throws Exception {
        camelContext.stop();
    }

    public static void main(String[] args) {
        WorkflowManager workflowManager = new WorkflowManager();
        try {
            workflowManager.start();
            while(true) {

            }
        } catch (Exception e) {
            e.printStackTrace();
        }
    }
}
import org.apache.camel.Exchange;
import org.apache.camel.Processor;

public class ProcessOne implements Processor {
    @Override
    public void process(Exchange exchange) throws Exception {
        System.out.println("In ProcessOne");
    }
}
import org.apache.camel.Exchange;
import org.apache.camel.Processor;

public class ProcessTwo implements Processor {
    @Override
    public void process(Exchange exchange) throws Exception {
        System.out.println("In ProcessTwo");
    }
}

I hope this helps you . Using local creates a variable that is not inherited from the parent scope.
There are useful things to add.
code :
local -r VAR="$VAR"
local -r VAR="${VAR-}"

I wish this help you Since you are using Automator and AppleScript in Automator, and you have not posted any actual code, it's difficult to give you an exact answer of what you're looking for.
There may be an easier solution but the solution I came up with was to create one script which will save a variable into a new script file (which will automatically be created on your desktop with the name of “Stored_Variable.scpt”. The second script loads the value of the variable stored in the “Stored_Variable.scpt” file.
code :
-- Comment Out This Next Line Before
-- Placing This Code Into Your Script
-- Which Contains The Variable You Want Copied

set originalVariable to (path to desktop) -- Testing Purposes Only

-- Replace "originalVariable" with the
-- Name Of Your Actual Variable You Want To Pass
--   To The Next Script

set saveThisVariable to originalVariable
storeTheVariable()

-- The Following Code Belongs At The Very Bottom Of Your Script
on storeTheVariable()
    set storedVariabeFileLocation to (path to desktop as text) & "Stored_Variable.scpt"
    ----------------------
    script theVariable
        set saveThisVariable to saveThisVariable
    end script
    ----------------------
    store script theVariable in ¬
        file storedVariabeFileLocation with replacing
end storeTheVariable
-- Gets The Variable Which Was Previously Stored
-- From The Other Applescript And Stores It In A
--   New Variable... getVariableNow

set getVariableNow to run loadTheVariable

-- -----------------------------------

-- Place Whatever Commands Here, That You Will Be Using
-- The New Variable... getVariableNow with

-- -----------------------------------

-- The Following Code Belongs At The Very Bottom Of Your Script
script loadTheVariable
    property storedVariabeFileLocation : (path to desktop as text) & "Stored_Variable.scpt"
    property theRetrievedVariable : missing value
    on getStoredVariable()
        set theScript to load script file storedVariabeFileLocation
        set theRetrievedVariable to saveThisVariable of (theVariable of theScript)
    end getStoredVariable
    set theRetrievedVariable to loadTheVariable's getStoredVariable()
end script

I wish this help you Unfortunately, this isn't supported. There is a feature request which I believe will address this as well that you could up vote for it to gain more traction.
As for a workaround, instead of using the Workflow Action, you could simply use the HTTP Action to trigger your other Logic Apps.
