How to load a MODFLOW file that includes external file using ' OPEN/CLOSE' in FloPy? I got stuck with loading a UPW file

it should still fix some issue I bet you need to load the DIS with UPW - the UPW load may need DIS info.

File-writing program in C on Unix stuck at 508 open/close cycles

By : user2576
Date : March 29 2020, 07:55 AM
this will help 508 is suspiciously close to 512, a reasonable default value for the number of open files. Type the command ulimit -a and see what limits are imposed. On my Fedora 15 system, 1024 is the limit for number of open files per process:
code :
[wally@lenovotower ~]$ ulimit -a
core file size (blocks, -c) 0
data seg size (kbytes, -d) unlimited
scheduling priority             (-e) 0
file size               (blocks, -f) unlimited
pending signals                 (-i) 22084
max locked memory (kbytes, -l) 64
max memory size (kbytes, -m) unlimited
open files                      (-n) 1024
pipe size            (512 bytes, -p) 8
POSIX message queues (bytes, -q) 819200
real-time priority              (-r) 0
stack size              (kbytes, -s) 8192
cpu time               (seconds, -t) unlimited
max user processes              (-u) 1024
virtual memory          (kbytes, -v) unlimited
file locks                      (-x) unlimited

Unload SWF File in a Same Button that Load the External File to Minimize Loading Time

By : sampi
Date : March 29 2020, 07:55 AM
I wish did fix the issue. I understand from the question that it's highly likely that you'll switch between the SWFs often (loading home and unloading menu, and vice versa).
I suggest you create a container SWF, which will load both SWFs, and save references to the loaders / their content on load complete.

Extract subsidence data from MODFLOW-2000 binary output using FloPy

This might help you Binary output from the SUB package has the same format as MODFLOW binary head files. You need to know the name of the output text string written to the binary file. See Table 1 in the MODFLOW-2005 online documentation for the SUB package to determine the text string for a given SUB package binary file.
The following shows how to convert Z DISPLACEMENT data in a binary subsidence file to an ascii file using flopy and numpy:
code :
import numpy as np
import flopy

# open the binary file
sobj = flopy.utils.HeadFile('model.zdisplacement.bin',
                            text='Z DISPLACEMENT')

# get all of the available times in the file
times = sobj.get_times()

# extract the data for the last time in the file
zd = sobj.get_data(totim=times[-1])

# save the z-displacement for the first layer (layer 0) to an ascii file
# zd is a 3D numpy array with a shape of (nlay, nrow, ncol)
np.savetxt('layer0.zdisplacement.txt', zd[0])
for t in sobj.get_times():
    zd = sobj.get_data(totim=t)
    for k in range(nlay):
        fpth = 'layer{}_{}.zdisplacement.txt'.format(k, t)
        np.savetxt(fpth, zd[k])

Has the binary option of "OPEN/CLOSE <fname> [(BINARY)]" been implemented in MODFLOW 6 flopy?

By : raywritescode
Date : March 29 2020, 07:55 AM
will help you Page 20 of the MODFLOW 6 IO pdf (mf6io.pdf) describes the OPEN/CLOSE option which can be used in the BEGIN PERIOD / END PERIOD block for list input. My testing of flopy found that I could read an external ASCII file but not a binary file. When I stepped into the code with the debugger I couldn't find any code that would handle the '(BINARY)' option. The code in question seems to be in mfpackage.py in the 'load' method (below). Has the binary option of "OPEN/CLOSE [(BINARY)]" been implemented in MODFLOW 6 flopy? , This should now be implemented on the develop branch of flopy.

Extract heads from MODFLOW-USG binary output using flopy

Does that help flopy has a method (.HeadUFile()) for reading results from MODFLOW-USG models that use the DISU package. From 01A_nestedgrid_nognc example provided with MODFLOW-USG.
code :
>>> import flopy
>>> hobj = flopy.utils.HeadUFile('flow.hds')
>>> hobj.get_times()
[1.0]
>>> hobj.get_kstpkper()
[(0, 0)]
>>> hobj.get_data()
