SQL: Alternative to COALESCE() function that groups all values into one column

I wish this helpful for you You can't use a coalesce here as there might be more than one value to return
UNION is the best solution (not UNION ALL because blanks)
code :
select column1 from mytable
select column2 from mytable
select column3 from mytable

VB.NET: How do I use coalesce with db column values and nullable types? Or is there a better solution?

like below fixes the issue I'm trying to do something similar to what's described here, but with nullable types. , It is silly, but you have to cast the Nothing when you set it:
code :
Dim availableUnits As Int32? = If(myDataReader.IsDBNull("UnitsInStock"), _
                                  CType(Nothing, Int32?), _

hope this fix your issue One option is to use ROW_NUMBER() with a Case expression to establish your ordering.
code :
       SELECT OrderNumber,
                           CASE Status
                               WHEN 'NotStarted' THEN 1
                               WHEN 'Released' THEN 2
                               WHEN 'In-Process' THEN 3
                               WHEN 'Sold' THEN 4
                               WHEN 'Completed' THEN 5
                               END DESC) as Order_Status_Rank
        FROM OrderTable
    ) dt
WHERE Order_Status_Rank = 1;
