Can't get elasticsearch to run as a service on Ubuntu 12.0.4 (Natty) - ElasticSearch may have failed to start

this one helps. Make sure that you have the JDK and you have specified the JAVA_HOME and the ES_HOME vars.
The following snippet works for me:
code :
sudo apt-get install openjdk-6-jdk # if you haven't
sudo export JAVA_HOME=/usr/lib/jvm/java-6-openjdk-amd64 >> /etc/bash.bashrc
wget https://download.elasticsearch.org/elasticsearch/elasticsearch/elasticsearch-0.90.6.tar.gz
tar xvf elasticsearch-0.90.6.tar.gz
mv elasticsearch-0.90.6 elasticsearch
cd elasticsearch
sudo export ES_HOME=`(pwd)` >> /etc/bash.bashrc
cd ./bin
./elasticsearch -f # to run in the foreground
ps -ef |grep elasticsearch
kill #PID result of previous command
pkill -f elasticsearch

This might help you You did not add the rangeQuery. Change your boolQueryBuilder to following:
code :
BoolQueryBuilder boolQueryBuilder = QueryBuilders.boolQuery().must(QueryBuilders.matchQuery(matchQueryKey,matchQueryValue)).must(QueryBuilders.rangeQuery("@timestamp").gte(fromValue).lte(toValue));
InternalDateHistogram histogram = searchResponse.getAggregations().getAsMap().get(aggregation_name);
List bucketList = histogram?.getBuckets()

How to start many ElasticSearch nodes in one Machine

I hope this helps . If you want to start many nodes for testing purposes, I strongly recommend to use the esvm tool.
That tool is specifically designed for rapidly testing your code against different ES versions running on one or many nodes. For instance, you can start a 5-node cluster (2 master + 3 data) very easily using this configuration file:
code :
  "clusters": {
    "2m3d": {
      "plugins": ["mobz/elasticsearch-head"],
      "nodes": [
          "cluster": { "name": "2m3d" },
          "node": { "name": "master-1", "data": false, "master": true }
          "cluster": { "name": "2m3d" },
          "node": { "name": "master-2", "data": false, "master": true }
          "cluster": { "name": "2m3d" },
          "node": { "name": "data-1", "data": true, "master": false }
          "cluster": { "name": "2m3d" },
          "node": { "name": "data-2", "data": true, "master": false }
          "cluster": { "name": "2m3d" },
          "node": { "name": "data-3", "data": true, "master": false }
> esvm 2m3d

Spring data elasticsearch unable to connect to elasticsearch instance

wish of those help To me it seems like the clusternames do not match. Try this parameters:
Properties in YAML Syntax:
code :
### elastic properties
    cluster-name: yourclustername
    cluster-nodes: localhost:9300
    repositories.enabled: true
@EnableElasticsearchRepositories(basePackages = "elasticsearch")
public class Application {

fixed the issue. Will look into that further It looks like you defined custom location for the Elasticsearch files (data, logs, etc):
code :
