Hope that helps I'm doing a script that gives me the difference in profit that represents to buy one more element in my business. I have a list with the monthly input that I get buying one, two, three elements... , I'm not sure I fully understand but is this what you mean?
code :
my_list = [1,2,3,5,7,9]
diff_list = []
for i in range(1,len(my_list)):
    x = my_list[i] - my_list[i-1]
    diff_list.append(x)

print(diff_list)
[1, 1, 2, 2, 2]
