this one helps. I need to change this code but don't know how to do it. , Hmmm . . . Here is one method:
code :
select coalesce((select max(MAC)
                 from NodeMACAddresses
                 where NodeID = $@nodeid@
                ),
                (select max(MAC)
                 from MACAddress
                 where NodeID = $@nodeid@
                ),
                'No Mac Address'
               )

should help you out this does not work this way. Order is not guaranteed in a selected list unless ORDER BY is used.
I think a bigger problem for you to contemplate is why does the user need 1 million rows of returned data, what good does that do them? perhaps figuring a way to summarize to something useful would allow you to optimize a bit.

around this issue You could use group_concat and get all the industries in a single column. I'm aware that is not an exact answer to your questions, but it comes close and I don't believe what you ask is possible with only 3 joins.
code :
SELECT
R.id,
R.first_name,
R.last_name,
GROUP_CONCAT(I.name) AS industries
FROM registrants R
JOIN registrants_industries RI ON R.id = RI.registrant_id
JOIN industires I ON RI.industry_id = I.id
GROUP BY R.id
354, Mike, Smith, "Painting,Yard Care"
599, Joe, Jones, "’General Construction’"

fixed the issue. Will look into that further I have two tables word_term_relationships and word_posts , A simple INNER JOIN will solve your problem. Try this,
code :
SELECT a.post_title,
       a.post_date,
       a.post_date_gmt,
       a.guid
FROM   word_posts a
       INNER JOIN word_term_relationships b
           ON a.ID = b.object_id
WHERE  b.term_taxonomy_id= '54'
ORDER BY a.post_date ASC

around this issue Essentially i'm trying to concatenate the Driver data from all 3 tables into one output query organized with regex through mysql using data from said columns. , how about adding table name in select like this:
code :
SELECT * FROM
(
    SELECT NewCustInfo.Driver,NewCustInfo.id,NewCustInfo.Accomplished,'NewCustInfo' as tbname
    FROM NewCustInfo WHERE NewCustInfo.Driver
    REGEXP 'Test123/' AND NewCustInfo.Accomplished='0'
    ORDER BY NewCustInfo.Driver REGEXP '/[[:digit:]]' ASC
) DUMMY_ALIAS1

UNION ALL

SELECT * FROM
(
    SELECT PickupSlip.Driver,PickupSlip.id,PickupSlip.Accomplished,'PickupSlip' as tbname
    FROM PickupSlip WHERE PickupSlip.Driver
    REGEXP 'Test123/' AND PickupSlip.Accomplished='0'
    ORDER BY PickupSlip.Driver REGEXP '/[[:digit:]]' ASC
) DUMMY_ALIAS2

UNION ALL

SELECT * FROM
(
    SELECT DeliverySlip.Driver,DeliverySlip.id,DeliverySlip.Accomplished,'DeliveryShip' as tbname
    FROM DeliverySlip WHERE DeliverySlip.Driver
    REGEXP 'Test123/' AND DeliverySlip.Accomplished='0'
    ORDER BY DeliverySlip.Driver REGEXP '/[[:digit:]]' ASC
) DUMMY_ALIAS3

I think the issue was by ths following , You can take category array static Or put all categories into one table and make category array dynamically also
code :
<?
$catArray = array("history","nature", "lifestyle", "science","travel");
$istorielist = '';
foreach($catArray as $k=>$v)
{
    $sql = "SELECT id, titlu, link, poza, alt FROM ".$v." WHERE approved='1' ORDER BY RAND() LIMIT 3";
    $query = mysqli_query($db_conx, $sql);
    while($row = mysqli_fetch_array($query, MYSQLI_ASSOC)){
        $id = $row["id"];
        $titlu = $row["titlu"];
        $link = $row["link"];
        $poza = $row["poza"];
        $alt = $row["alt"];
        $istorielist .= '<div id="articol-content-more"><a href="/istorie/'.$link.'"><img src="/images/'.$poza.'.jpg"class="articol-content-more-image" alt="'.$alt.'"><p class="articol-content-more-title">'.$titlu.'</p></a><span><a class="articol-content-more-afla" href="/istorie/'.$link.'">Citește mai multe</a></span><span class="articol-content-more-fl"><div class="fb-share-button" data-layout="button_count" data-href="http://esticurios.ro/istorie/'.$link.'"></div></span></div>';
    }
}
