To fix the issue you can do I know that we can use sys.argv, but I am having an issue with this. , Try this:
code :
import ast

input_list = ast.literal_eval(sys.argv[1])
[5, 1, 6, [5, 2]]

it helps some times Upon reaching end of stream on input, raw_input will return an empty string. So if you really need to accumulate entire input (which you probably should be avoiding given SPOJ constraints), then do:
code :
buffer = ''
while True:
    line = raw_input()
    if not line: break

    buffer += line

# process input

I wish this help you If you want to pass the output of date to python you can pipe it (using |) or you can pass it as a command line argument.
Consider the following python program:
code :
import sys

print "Command line input:"
print sys.argv;

print ""

print "Standard input:"
print sys.stdin.read()
echo "hmm, this is text" | python test3.py "`date`"
Command line input:
['test3.py', 'Mon  9 Feb 21:10:00 AEST 2015']

Standard input:
hmm, this is text
date | python test3.py

I wish this helpful for you Do we have any through which we can take single line as well as multi- line list input in Python? Like in C++ we have :- , Re-inventing the square wheel is easy:
code :
def m_input(N):
    if(N < 1): return []
    x = input().strip().split()[:N]
    return x + m_input(N - len(x))

fixed the issue. Will look into that further It is not at all clear what the OP meant (even after some back-and-forth in the comments), but here are two answers to possible interpretations of the question:
For interactive user input (or piped commands or redirected input)
