it helps some times My environment is mac. I'm trying to run "npm ls" from my java code but it throws error messages. , Try providing full path to the npm executable:
code :
String dir = "/Users/youngeun/Downloads/zenbot_unstable";
String npm = dir + "/npm";
Process p = new ProcessBuilder(npm, "ls")
                .director(new File(dir))
                .start();
p.waitFor();

it should still fix some issue .bashrc aliases only affects the BASH shell. You could export an environment variable instead, but I don't know if Java's ProcessBuilder would pick that up either.
Having said that, I can't see why this wouldn't work:

it should still fix some issue First, you need to use -S with sudo to make it read the password from its stdin.
Second, you should read or redirect the error stream somewhere to be aware of any errors.

Any of those help ProcessBuilder wants you to provide the command name and each argument as separate strings. When you (indirectly) perform
code :
pb.command("p4", "label -d mylabel123");
pb.command("p4", "label", "-d", "mylabel123");

it should still fix some issue The problem here is that the redirection does not get executed in the bash command you are invoking.
Try using passing the command to execute as a string usin the -c option for bash:
