Python: Why is my POST requests not working?

I wish this help you you aren't doing anything wrong. I went to check the server and found that the server is set up such that the POST request returns HTML. However, it is not the exact same HTML as the original page, as this returned HTML only contains information about the inmate(s) that you were searching for.
If you want to extract the information about the inmates from this HTML, I'd suggest using something like Beautiful Soup which is a HTML parser and will allow you to extract whatever information you want.

fixed the issue. Will look into that further You need to POST the data You need to know the right url, check the html source, in this case:http://upload.bayimg.com/upload You need read the content of the file instead of only pass the filename
You might want use Requests to do it easily.

I wish this help you Actually the issue was due to SSL , if your server is using https method then you need to add following line in requests.post
code :
r = requests.post(api_url, data = {"var 1":"value", "var 2":"value"}, verify=True)
def get_base_url(request):
    host = get_host(request)
    if request.is_secure():
        return '{0}{1}/{2}'.format('https://', host, 'url')
        return '{0}{1}/{2}'.format('http://', host, 'url')

may help you . It looks like the URL you're are trying to access has a problem. The form does not exist and the web request never returns, so your code just sits waiting for a response.
In general, you should use a timeout to prevent your code freezing due to remote server problems and then handle the error/exception accordingly.

around this issue I wasn't sending a proper response code back to the client.
Adding this in the do_POST method fixed it.
code :
self.send_response(200, "OK")

hope this fix your issue Since in postman the parameters are "appended to the url" like https://areallylongurl?params={"catalogItem": "Req Name"}, it means that the request is likely a GET request with JSON passed as a value to the params parameter, rather than a payload to a POST request, in which case you should do this instead:
code :
response = requests.get(url, headers=headers, params={"params": json.dumps(payload)}, verify=False)
