How to find a module in a virtualenv without activating said virtualenv?

Does that help The only practical solution I could find here is to run the virtualenv's activate_this.py script, look for what I need, then remove it's changes from sys.path.
code :
import sys
import os

old_sys_path = list(sys.path)

virtualenv_path = "/path/to/venv"
activate_this_path = os.path.join(virtualenv_path, "bin", "activate_this.py")

execfile(activate_this_path, dict(__file__=activate_this_path))

# get my module here

# restore sys.path
sys.path = old_sys_path

fixed the issue. Will look into that further You have to activate you virtualenv again. In bash you have to source the activate file:
code :
source myprojectenv/bin/activate

I hope this helps you . The accepted answer is incomplete! The suggested code left out your error, but didn't comment on it.
The command . .env/bin/activate would indeed do the same as source on the file activate in the folder .env/bin. In fact, apparently the command "source" is an alias for the command ".", and not the other way around. Note that . here has a space after it, and used differently from the . discussed below (which makes files and folders hidden).

help you fix your problem
I was thinking that every and each dependency I need, might be present inside virtualenv.
code :
pip install -r requirements.txt
pip install -e path/to/your/project/clone/.
pip install django

Hope this helps I think it's important to understand how direnv works to form a proper mental model first; direnv doesn't load the .envrc directly in the current shell. Instead, it starts a new bash shell, executes the .envrc in there, records the changes in environment and exports the diff bash into the current shell.
