KUBECTL ERROR: the server has asked for the client to provide credentials

fixed the issue. Will look into that further This works for me using both the AWS_PROFILE env on the command line and also setting the env in the ~/.kube/config file.
The only thing that I can think may be happening is that you have the AWS credentials predefined for your prod account in the bash env already (Those take precedence over what's in ~/.aws/credentials. You can check with this:
code :
$ env | grep AWS
AWS_SECRET_ACCESS_KEY=xxxxxxxx
AWS_ACCESS_KEY_ID=xxxxxxxxx
$ unset AWS_SECRET_ACCESS_KEY
$ unset AWS_ACCESS_KEY_ID

I wish did fix the issue. It seems there is a mistake while creating the ClusterRoleBinding:
Instead of --clusterrole cluster-admin, you should have --clusterrole=cluster-admin
Error: Upgrade failed: the server has asked for the client to provide credentials (get configmaps)

Hope this helps It looks like problem with Using RBAC Authorization or RoleBinding and ClusterRoleBinding
Here you can find one of the examples:
code :
rules:
- apiGroups: [""]
  resources: ["configmaps"]
  resourceNames: ["my-config"]
  verbs: ["get"]
Kubectl command throwing error: Unable to connect to the server: getting credentials: exec: exit status 2

Any of those help Did you have the kubectl configuration file ready?
Normally we put it under ~/.kube/config and the file includes the cluster endpoint, ceritifcate, contexts, admin users, and so on.
error: You must be logged in to the server - the server has asked for the client to provide credentials - "kubectl

hope this fix your issue Looks like you misconfigured kublet:
You missed the --client-ca-file flag in your Kubelet Service File
