Hope this helps You have something which is trying to access a variable which is set to null (or hasn't been initialized). Do you have anything in the Global.asax or anything that fires on the start of the application? Do you have any asynchronous operations that fire on the start of the application?
Check on your Home.aspx page to see what is happening there. It looks like your application redirects to that page, so I would guess that on either the init or page_load event there is something which is executing that it causing the problem.

Hope this helps Forgot to add this : In Configuration Properties > Linker > Additional Library Directories, enter the path to the Boost binaries, e.g. C:\Program Files\boost\boost_1_38_0\lib.
Should have RTFM. http://www.boost.org/doc/libs/1_36_0/more/getting_started/windows.html#link-from-within-the-visual-studio-ide

I wish this helpful for you It turned out that my application uses a control that does not run on 64-bit environments.
Apparently, the debugger in VS2008 will not throw an error whenever one of these old style DLLs fails.

I wish did fix the issue. I haven't tried this one but I think it will have two major steps.
You have to create a function that can open and read the content of the excel file

this one helps. Is your issue with Visual Studio or with the 4.0 Framework?
If it is with just the framework. I would change your projects Target Framework back to your former framework and continue to use VS2010.

With these it helps In my experience, that "call to pure virtual" error sometimes happens when you've built against the wrong version of the Windows SDK by setting the WINVER defines to a higher level of OS than the one you run on.
That doesn't explain why the problem was fixed though so also make sure the redistributables you installed were for the same Service Pack of VS2010 as you used for the build.
