fixed the issue. Will look into that further Could you post an example of what a test class looks like, the custom annotations you use and explain what they do?
Based on your description, an IMethodInterceptor might be what you need (TestNG gives you a list of the methods it's about to run and you get a chance to alter that list).

wish helps you To make the testng.xml work in device farm it will need to be added to the root of the jar in the zip-with-dependencies.zip
Here is a pull request showing how to do that https://github.com/awslabs/aws-device-farm-appium-tests-for-sample-app/pull/14

it fixes the issue The simplest way to execute your testng.xml is as follows :
Get your Project Location from your IDE i.e. Eclipse, through Windows Explorer go to the Project Location and create a directory lib . Dump all the libraries (Selenium jars, TestNG) in the lib directory.
code :
C:\Users\keating99\workspace\FdimTests>set classpath=C:\Users\keating99\workspace\FdimTests\bin;C:\Users\keating99\workspace\FdimTests\lib\*;
C:\Users\keating99\workspace\FdimTests>java org.testng.TestNG testng.xml

should help you out You can use tags to run / skip specific scenarios.
From the docs: You can tell Cucumber to ignore scenarios with a particular tag:
code :
@CucumberOptions(tags = "not @smoke")
class RunCucumberTest {}
