To fix this issue
As far as I understand, implementing the UserDetailsService is more for user customization . If you can get the data by a straightforward query, use JDBC-user-service .
code :
<c:url value="/j_spring_security_logout"/>">
        <form-login login-page="/login.jsp"
                default-target-url="/welcome.jsp"
                always-use-default-target="true"
                authentication-failure-url="/login.jsp?error=true" />

I wish this help you Assuming You're using Spring Security 3.0.x and securing a web application, check out:
AuthenticationSuccessHandler used by AuthenticationProcessingFilter for actions on successful login. And LogoutSuccessHandler used by LogoutFilter for actions on successful logout.

should help you out I solved this by implementing my own RunAsManager that checks for a custom annotation on the invoked method and returns the appropriate Token.
works great.

Hope that helps EDIT: In December 2013 Spring Security 3.2 was released and Java Configuration was implemented, so above XML is roughly equivalent to:
code :
@Configuration
@EnableGlobalMethodSecurity(prePostEnabled = true)
public class SecurityConfiguration extends WebSecurityConfigurerAdapter {

  @Override
  protected void configure(final AuthenticationManagerBuilder auth)
      throws Exception {
    auth.authenticationProvider(authenticator());
    super.configure(auth);
  }

  @Bean
  public AuthenticationProvider authenticator() {
    return new TestingAuthenticationProvider();
  }

}
Should spring security filters call authentication providers directly?

should help you out It's been 3 years, so I think the conclusion is that there isn't a right or wrong way!
The guts of Spring Security haven't changed much since it was Acegi, and it seems to be a mix of different approaches.
