Any of those help The reason why float temp = b/a; gives 0 while float temp = (float)b/a; gives 0.5 is that the compiler determines the output type of the division operation based upon the types of the operands, not the destination storage type. Put simply:
code :
int   /   int = int
float /   int = float
int   / float = float
float / float = float

I wish did fix the issue. , In addition to the other answers:
code :
float theFloat = 1.23456;
int rounded = roundf(theFloat); NSLog(@"%d",rounded);
int roundedUp = ceil(theFloat); NSLog(@"%d",roundedUp);
int roundedDown = floor(theFloat); NSLog(@"%d",roundedDown);
// Note: int can be replaced by float

I wish did fix the issue. C's calling conventions say that when passing arguments to a variadic argument function (a function like NSLog with a ... at the end of the parameter list) each float must be converted and passed as a double.
I expect that this is not the case with C++ (but I don't really know). Anyway, as NSLog expects all floating point types to be doubles it's safest to do the conversion explicitly:
code :
NSLog(@"Value of a: %5.2f", (double)a);

wish helps you I need to convert a number in an input text type field from Celsius to Kelvin when radio buttons switch: , Let's look at this line:

it should still fix some issue I have a dataframe named "sample" which has three columns: "birthDay", "birthMonth" and "birthYear" and containing float values as in following picture: , setup
code :
sample = pd.DataFrame([
        [3., 11., 1988.],
        [20., 4., 2001.],
    ], columns=['birthDay', 'birthMonth', 'birthYear'])
# dictionary map to rename to canonical date names
# enables convenient conversion using pd.to_datetime
m = dict(birthDay='Day', birthMonth='Month', birthYear='Year')
sample['dateOfBirth'] = pd.to_datetime(sample.rename(columns=m))

sample
# dictionary map to rename to canonical date names
# enables convenient conversion using pd.to_datetime
m = dict(birthDay='Day', birthMonth='Month', birthYear='Year')

sample['dateOfBirth'] = pd.to_datetime(sample.rename(columns=m)) \
                          .dt.strftime('%-m/%-d/%Y')

sample
f = '{birthMonth:0.0f}/{birthDay:0.0f}/{birthYear:0.0f}'.format
sample['dateOfBirth'] = sample.apply(lambda x: f(**x), 1)
sample
sample = pd.DataFrame([
        [3., 11., 1988.],
        [20., 4., 2001.],
        [20., np.nan, 2001.],
    ], columns=['birthDay', 'birthMonth', 'birthYear'])

sample
f = '{birthMonth:0.0f}/{birthDay:0.0f}/{birthYear:0.0f}'.format
mask = sample[['birthDay', 'birthMonth', 'birthYear']].notnull().all(1)
sample.loc[mask, 'dateOfBirth'] = sample.apply(lambda x: f(**x), 1)
sample
