Any of those help I Know it may be got answered a lot here but i think i have a different case , You should handle zone too. Correct variant:
code :
[dateFormat setDateFormat:@"yyyy-MM-dd HH:mm:ss Z"];
NSDateFormatter dateFromString return wrong year

NSDateFormatter dateFromString return wrong year

To fix this issue The issue is the locale of the formatter. If you want to use gregorian calendar regardless of the device settings, you generally should set locale to en_US_POSIX.
code :
formatter.locale = [NSLocale localeWithLocaleIdentifier:@"en_US_POSIX"];
NSDateFormatter dateFromString with format 'hh:mm a' return nil

NSDateFormatter dateFromString with format 'hh:mm a' return nil

I wish this helpful for you I'm assuming your device language is other then English. In that case you need to set the date formatter Locale. Try this code.
code :
NSString *time = @"01:30 PM";
NSDateFormatter *dateFormat = [[NSDateFormatter alloc] init];
[dateFormat setDateFormat:@"hh:mm a"];
[dateFormat setLocale:[[NSLocale alloc] initWithLocaleIdentifier:@"en_US_POSIX"]];
NSDateFormatter dateFromString return null

NSDateFormatter dateFromString return null

Hope this helps Your code is correct.
If the device is set to AM/PM time and requested string format is set to @"yyyy-MM-dd HH:mm:ss" dateFromString will return nil. Try setting the locale like :
code :
[dateFormatter setLocale:[[NSLocale alloc] initWithLocaleIdentifier:@"en_US"]];
NSDateFormatter dateFromString produces nil after first call in same method

I hope this helps you . In the second string, the hour is 17 (24-hour format) but the format string uses hh (lowercase) which is for 12-hour format.
Change the format string to yyyy-MM-dd HH:mm:ss Z.
