around this issue I just got this error myself. Looking at source control and my project I noticed that the original test pages that were created when I setup the project got replaced by two new test pages (one .aspx and one .html).
I removed the newly created pages and went back to the old test pages and things started working.

hope this fix your issue My xap-file of the Silverlight app is not being updated after compilation: I've added another control - it didn't appear in my app...
The reason: Silverlight app contained wrong "Startup Object". After fix - problem was resolved.

hop of those help? I got the same result when following your instructions. The problem is the following line in your aspx page:
code :
<param name="source" value="ClientBin/TestOnly.xap"/>
<param name="source" value="/ClientBin/TestOnly.xap"/>
<script type="text/javascript" src="Silverlight.js"></script>
<script type="text/javascript" src="/Silverlight.js"></script>

may help you . Code 2104 is "Could not download the Silverlight application. Check web server settings". List of codes are here.
You are likely using a relative URL for your silverlight object, which doesn't resolve correctly if you are in a subdirectory.
code :
<param name="source" value="<% = Url.Content("~/ClientBin/MySilverlightThing.xap") %>"/>

will be helpful for those in need FTP is not supported natively in Silverlight, but sockets are, so in theory you can connect to the FTP server using sockets directly (not too easy, but FTP isn't a protocol too complex). However, sockets have a limited set of ports on browser-based SL applications (IIRC between 4502 and 4535), so you'll need to change the FTP server to listen to those ports instead of the default port 21. This is not a problem in out-of-browser SL applications, so if this is an option, then you can use the default port as well.
So, I'd say that talking directly to a FTP server is possible, but frankly I wouldn't recommend it. Using a WCF (or ASMX, as shown in http://silverlightftp.codeplex.com) is going to be a lot simpler.
