I hope this helps . Django does not perform database migration for you, i.e., if you add new fields, Django won't modify your database schema.
You can either:

will be helpful for those in need As with most things: it depends. Each of your ideas have merit. If it were me, I'd start out this way:
code :
  class Product < ActiveRecord::Base
     has_one :aws_item
  end
  class AWSItem
     belongs_to :product
  end
class Product < ActiveRecord::Base
end
class AWSItem < Product
  def do_amazon_stuff
    ...
  end
end
class Product < ActiveRecord::Base

end

class ItemFetcher < BackgrounDRb::Rails
   def do_work
      # .... Make a cached copy of your ECS catalog here.
      # Copy the Amazon stuff into your local model
   end
end

I hope this helps you . Run it via manage.py on some port, place ipdb.set_trace() call in your view and trace it step by step - like in any other debugging process.
Also you can use built-in python/django logging features and just print our stuff to the log file.

seems to work fine Ok, it seems that the suggested file name "apps.py" is somehow tricking this strange behaviour. Perhaps being my applications directory called "apps" as well (as suggested in Two Scoops of Django) generates confusion.
Simply renaming the apps.py file to config.py and fixing the __init__.py accordingly like this:
code :
default_app_config = 'apps.cliente.config.ClienteConfig'

Hope that helps If you have your data, you'll just run a for loop and create and save your Book instances:
code :
# you'll need to create your instances and then save them
for book in data:
    book = Book(title=book.title, author=book.author, isbn=book.isbn)
    book.save()
data = []

for object in scrape:
    object = {
        'title': scrape.title,
        'author': scrape.author,
        'isbn': scrape.isbn,
    }
    data.append(object)

With these it helps You can override the to_representation() method of the JobsListSerializer to get your desired response.
You need to do something like:
code :
class JobsListSerializer(serializers.ModelSerializer):
    class Meta:
        model  = JobsList
        ...

    def to_representation(self, obj):
        serialized_data = super(JobsListSerializer, self).to_representation(obj) # original serialized data
        job_category_id = serialized_data.get('job_category') # get job category id from original serialized data
        job_category = JobsCategories.objects.get(id=job_category_id) # get the object from db
        serialized_data['job_category'] = job_category.name # replace id with category name
        return serialized_data # return modified serialized data
