Does that help The == operator only makes sense when the two types are compatible, which is not the case between strings and floats. One side must be explicitly converted to the other.
You may convert the NSString into a float:

this will help 'Casting' isn't what you need to do, but if your array (actually from your code it looks like a dictionary) contains strings, then yes, you need to convert them to a numeric format. Give this a try:
code :
CGFloat goLat = [[valfields objectForKey: @"geo_lat"] floatValue];

I wish this helpful for you No no no no no no no no no.
Use an NSNumberFormatter. This is why it exists. -floatValue and -doubleValue are merely quick-and-easy temporary fixes, but they fail in bad ways. For example:
code :
NSLog(@"%f", [@"123" floatValue]); //logs 123.0000
NSLog(@"%f", [@"abc" floatValue]); //logs 0.0000
NSLog(@"%f", [@"0" floatValue]);   //logs 0.0000
NSLog(@"%f", [@"42" floatValue]);  //logs 42.0000
NSLog(@"%f", [@"42x" floatValue]); //logs 42.0000

fixed the issue. Will look into that further Short answer: no. String comparison is prohibitively more expensive compared to other methods of comparing (or: classifying, categorizing) objects.
Long answer: don't optimize what you haven't analyzed, measured and compared. What you really want to do before you start optimizing is to get a clear picture of how your app behaves and what its performance bottlenecks are. The change you're attempting is unlikely to lead to any noticeable change in performance, so I suggest to first find the real bottlenecks.
Is there a way to compare a String converted into a float with an actual float value into an if-statement?

Does that help When Validating a button ,I converted the String value into a float one, but when I am trying to compare the converted value with an actual float I obtain compile errors. I want to create a comparison in this if in order to not permit values under 50 to be written in the application. , Try this
code :
//Reading value from text box
var amount = tbBid.Text;
//Parsing to float
float amountFloat = float.Parse(amount);

//Comparison
if (amountFloat < 50.0f)
{
      // Do your cancellation stuff
}
