With these it helps Actually there is an important difference.
If you need to do some sort of processing on the value by overriding the setter:
code :
class Drummer
  def name= value
    self[:name] = value.capitalize
  end
end

around this issue Assuming both instances are running in the same VPC (like the default VPC) or in routed/peered VPCs:
Make sure you've created two separate security groups, one for the EC2 instance and one for the RDS instance. Add an inbound security group rule to the RDS SG and allow incoming PostgreSQL connections (5432/tcp) originating from the EC2's SG.

seems to work fine It looks like you are trying to connect from a 11.2.0.1.0 Oracle home using sqlplus / as sysdba but the database is on an 11.2.0.4.0 home. You may need to set your ORACLE_HOME variable to point to the Oracle home that the database uses and to put $ORACLE_HOME/bin in your path after setting ORACLE_HOME to the database's 11.2.0.4.0 home.
