I hope this helps you . In DOS, > or 1> is stdout, and 2> is stderr. So, you could say
myprog.exe 1> out.txt 2> err.txt

I wish did fix the issue. I've searched high and low, but all the suggestions and tips I've found do not work for some reason. I have a batch file that is being invoked as such: , This is probably the simplest solution:
code :
start cmd /c "php updateDB.php param1 param2 > updateDB.log"
start cmd /c "php updateDB.php param1 param2 > updateDB.log 2>&1"

it fixes the issue If you append '> filename.txt' to your line, it will output the results to a file instead. If you want to do both, there is apparently the wintee utility at http://code.google.com/p/wintee/. If it is similar to UNIX tee, than using it should only require you to append '| tee filename.txt' to your line.
Is it possible to redirect the output of a command to one file, but still keep the output echoing on the terminal?

Any of those help find can handle both the -exec and -print directives, you just need to merge the output:
code :
$ find . -maxdepth 1 -type f -name \*.txt -exec echo hello \; -print | paste - -
hello   ./b.txt
hello   ./a.txt
hello   ./all.txt
$ find . -maxdepth 1 -type f -name \*.txt -exec sh -c 'wc -l <"$1"' _ {} \; -print | paste - -
4   ./b.txt
4   ./a.txt
7   ./all.txt
cmd_out=$(echo 10)
for file in *.txt; do
    echo "$cmd_out $file"
done

I wish did fix the issue. Redirect the output of the last command to the /dev/null does the trick.
The final command looks like this:
code :
int val = system( "pacmd list-sink-inputs | grep -c 'state: RUNNING' > /dev/null" );
