PyGTK, Glade, Changing the window view and threads

like below fixes the issue If i well understand the connection is strictly coupled with the window. This seems like a good example of aggregation and composition. Simple decouple the window from the connection. Without code or more information is impossible to be more accurate. After this you can use both the solution you proposed: create a new window with a reference of the connection thread or "detach" the whole widgets tree and attach a brand new one, simple use gtk.Container.remove and gtk.Container.add (gtk.Window derive from gtk.Container).
If this is not enough modify your questions and add some info and code.

fixed the issue. Will look into that further I would say that it depends: if you find that using Glade you can build the apps you want or need to make than that's absolutely fine. If however you actually want to learn how GTK works or you have some non-standard UI requirements you will have to dig into GTK internals (which are not that complicated).
Personally I'm usually about 5 minutes into a rich client when I need some feature or customization that is simply impossible through a designer such as Glade or Stetic. Perhaps it's just me. Nevertheless it is still useful for me to bootstrap window design using a graphical tool.

To fix the issue you can do libglade has been replaced by GTK Builder which is basically a slight modification of libglade's API that's part of GTK+ proper.
Here are some links which should help you with that:

Hope this helps i am trying to build a GUI using pygtk and glade on Windows. I am a noob at python GUI building so please excuse my noobness. I Looked up this tutorial and did exactly as it said. The only difference was that I am on Windows 7 Home Premium x64 .
code :
self.window.show()
window_name="Hello World!"
self.window = self.wTree.get_widget(window_name)
if (self.window):
    self.window.connect("destroy", gtk.main_quit)
else:
    raise Exception("I couldn't find the window called "+window_name+"!")

With these it helps I'm trying to setup a little download application using Glade, PyGTK, and Python. I have it planned how I'd like to script this progress bar and all, though I feel I'm going about it the wrong way as... Well... It's not working. , After the line
code :
self.label1.set_text(status)
while gtk.events_pending():
    gtk.main_iteration()

To fix the issue you can do Using Glade to quickly code up a simple GUI, and I'm trying to create a generic error dialog in which I can set a label's text to whatever the error is. Pretty straightforward in typical GUI development (get the child form, set label's caption attribute, etc.). , For the xml you supplied you can set the label's text with
code :
dError.label.set_text("test")
vbox = dError.get_child()
hbox, label1, hbuttonbox = vbox.get_children()
label1.set_text("Test1")
im, vbox2 = hbox.get_children()
label2, label3 = vbox2.get_children()
label2.set_text("Text2")
label3.set_text("Text3") #This one is invisible as default
