I think the issue was by ths following , I fixed the problem. Posting this answer, hoping it might be useful to someone.
When I was checking the instance type of the CLOB retrieved by the query, it came up as oracle.sql.CLOB. So I assumed it must have been a version mismatch of ojdbc.jar. I checked my project a gazillion times for multiple copies of the ojdb.jar. There were none.

may help you . Jackcess normally expects to work with strongly-typed Java objects. In this case Jackcess must be trying to be helpful by automatically converting a String to a Double when adding the Row. For whatever reason, Jackcess is not willing to automatically convert a String to a Boolean*, even if that conversion seems obvious (to us), so for a table with fields
ID: AutoNumber, Primary Key
code :
String doubleFieldValue = "3.14159";
String yesnoFieldValue = "true";
tbl.addRow(Column.AUTO_NUMBER, doubleFieldValue, yesnoFieldValue);
String doubleFieldValue = "3.14159";
String yesnoFieldValue = "true";
tbl.addRow(Column.AUTO_NUMBER, doubleFieldValue, Boolean.parseBoolean(yesnoFieldValue));
String doubleFieldValue = "3.14159";
String yesnoFieldValue = "true";
tbl.addRow(Column.AUTO_NUMBER, Double.parseDouble(doubleFieldValue), Boolean.parseBoolean(yesnoFieldValue));

Hope that helps You're welcome, Game Programmer. The error you were getting means that a preference variable with that name is there but, for some reason, the data type it's finding isn't a string.
Changing the code in your onCreate to:
code :
status1 = prefs.getString("savelocked", "Locked");
prefsEditor.putString("savelocked", status1);

it should still fix some issue I am trying to do ORDER BY in Apache Pig. It fails with error java.lang.ClassCastException: java.lang.String cannot be cast to java.lang.Integer , If you are just trying to order the data, this is all you need
code :
movies = LOAD '/tmp/ml-1m/movies.dat' Using PigStorage('\t') as (movieblob:chararray);
A = FOREACH movies GENERATE FLATTEN(STRSPLIT(movieblob, '::', 3)) AS (id:int,title:chararray,genres:chararray);
B = ORDER A BY id;

inpt = LOAD '/tmp/ml-1m/movies.dat' Using PigStorage('\t') as (line:chararray);
splt = FOREACH inpt GENERATE FLATTEN(STRSPLIT($0, '::', 3));
movies = FOREACH splt GENERATE (int) $0 as id, (chararray)$1 as title,FLATTEN(STRSPLITTOBAG($2, '\\|', -1)) AS genre;
ordered_movies = ORDER movies BY id;
